The Varsity volleyball teams played their best games of the season Friday against West!

The Riverglen home team cheering squad was unstoppable; they REALLY helped the grizzlies with the win.  Great school spirit--thank you so much!

The Varsity I team won all three games and played stellar volleyball.  Great setting by Grace and Casey, great passing by Kenzie, Kendra, Mariah, and Halle.  Top servers were Mariah (with 10 in a row the first game), Grace with 8, and Kenzie with 7.  Nice job ladies!

The Varsity II team were also winners.  It was Yanira's best game of the season with 19 great passes.  Kendell had an amazing save to win the first game, and everyone worked together.  Peyton Simis led the servers with 10 points, Mickenzae added 9, and Bella and Gia added 8.  Great work!

Good luck today against Hillside!  Games begin after school in the gym.

8th Grade Girls Bball Report     3/6/2012

Congratulations to your 8th Grade Girl’s Varsity Basketball team form defeating Fairmont for the second time this year in a screaming, barn burner of a game. Our girls led by as much as 10 points when the Falcons went on a ten point run to tie the game late in the 4th period. The girls regained their composure while Coach Swift was struggling with near heart attack inducing stress. With the final seconds ticking away we took the lead for the final time and won 37-34. It was a furious battle with the good guys (US) suffering several injuries. Dejzhela’s knee met the Capital gym brick wall at warp speed. When irresistible force meets immovable object something must give. In this case Dezj’s knee did the giving as the brick wall held firm. She is probably out for the season and is sporting a lovely leg cast. Ashley Pelkoski broke a finger in three places as did Selena Deleon last week. On a retaliatory note, Syd “The Sydinator” Buhr totally creamed a Falcon player going for a rebound. Syd got the rebound but did not get the foul, probably because she was smiling the entire time.   On the JV side, Meg Osterhout jammed her finger pretty severely as did Tori “the Funkinator” Funk. Josie Garcia has a twisted thumb. Abby Feehan hit a last second basket once again this game as she did in the last game against South. My dad always told me that if it doesn’t kill you, it makes you stronger. I believe that so I salute you Riverglen Amazon warriors. Our battle cry is suck it up buttercup and the girls certainly have. Great job all, I am proud of you.

                      This is Coach Swift…OUT!
